4 Times you Need an SEO Professional

20 July 2023 Blog Posts

While some may believe in-house SEO is a cost-effective approach, certain situations call for the expertise of an SEO professional.

In today’s digital age, maintaining a strong online presence is crucial for businesses to thrive. As competition intensifies, companies must adopt effective strategies to stand out and attract their target audience.

Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) plays a pivotal role in enhancing a website’s visibility and driving organic traffic. While some may believe that managing SEO in-house is a cost-effective approach, there are certain times you need an SEO professional to take over.

In this blog, we will explore four critical instances when hiring the services of an SEO expert becomes crucial. Whether you’re migrating your website to a new platform, experiencing sudden drops in traffic or keyword rankings, overly reliant on paid ads, or simply seeking sustained growth, understanding the significance of hiring an SEO professional can be the key to unlocking your website’s true potential.

Let’s delve into each scenario and discover why an SEO expert is the guiding force towards online success.

4 times you need an SEO professional list

You are migrating your website to a new platform

If you have made the decision to migrate your eCommerce website to a new CMS platform, you have surely done your research into the costs. You will need to work with a website developer to complete the migration process and we highly recommend working with an SEO agency or SEO professional as well.

What’s the difference, you ask?

Website development is about creating a website that is both functional and appealing to your visitors. SEO is optimising a website so that it is appealing to Google and therefore will rank highly in search results, leading to more visitors.

We have written a series of articles on website migrations. These are essential reads before beginning the migration process.

You experienced a sudden huge drop in traffic or keyword rankings

It can be alarming to log in to your Google Analytics account and see a sudden drop in traffic. You may be wondering what went wrong and how to fix it. If you are aware of the problem, ensure you remedy it immediately.

One common issue we see is website owners deleting a huge range of blog posts without knowing that they are bringing in a lot of traffic to the website. If this has occurred, reupload the blog posts immediately. To prevent this occuring in the future, ensure you review your website analytics frequently to be aware of any important pages.

At Megantic, we conduct an in depth review of our clients analytics accounts at least once a month. We also will also usually review them once a week and have notifications set up to be alerted of any sudden changes.

The alerts we set up may include:

  • No recorded transactions
  • Traffic decreasing a certain percentage
  • Organic traffic decreasing a certain percentage
  • A lower conversion rate than usual

To set up the alerts, you must enter a specific percentage change that you want to be notified of. For example, decreasing 10%, 7% or even 0.05%. You can also set up alerts for increasing percentages.

Top Tip: Keep track of your analytics performance monthly to create your own reports, which you can share with your team or use to create KPIs.

You are relying too heavily on paid ads

We believe in a holistic and diversified approach to marketing. Paid ads can definitely give you digital results, but they shouldn’t be your only digital marketing strategy. Most of our clients are diversified into SEO, paid ads, social media and email marketing. This allows them the most opportunity for growth.

Our extensive partnership program allows us to introduce you to the best external agency for your unique needs, goals and budget. We don’t receive any sort of kick-back or reward from these recommendations, so we will work to fit you with the most valuable partner that will help you grow the most.

You want sustained growth

SEO is a complex and ever-evolving practice that involves optimising various aspects of a website to rank higher in search engine results and attract organic traffic. SEO professionals, like Megantic, possess the expertise and experience needed to navigate the intricate landscape of SEO, ensuring that your website stays ahead of competitors.
